There is a time in everyone’s life when you have to rethink something you did, or rethink something you’re doing.  As a business owner, there is a point where you want to rethink the design of your website.  No one business should stick with the same website for the life of their business.  There are strategies involved, and everyone in the organization has to analyze and study their business, and it starts with the website.  A website redesign doesn’t mean you’re not where you want to be as a business – it just means you can get better.  Here are four reasons when you should think about a website redesign.

1)      You’re not getting the results you want.  If your website is beautiful, SEO-fit, user friendly, and pixel perfect, then great! Only, you’re not getting the results you want.  Whether you believe it or not, your website is your digital business card and it exists to build your customer base.  Your website should reflect that goal. Examine your conversion rates, leads, and traffic. If you’re not happy with the results, it’s time to rethink redesigning your website.  Some things to think about are whether your site looks and feels like your company’s voice, whether you have too much text or not enough text, and if your landing pages inspire people.  Beauty and user friendliness are one thing, but if you’re not getting conversions, rethink your website strategy.

2)      Your business strategy has changed. Even Walmart and Best Buy change their strategies once in a while.  It will happen that as the economy and social climate change, your business practices will go with it.  You need a website that will reflect that change.  Keeping up with the changes will get you noticed online, guaranteed.  Redesigning your site to keep up will also get you ahead of the competition with a brand new look.

3)      Your website just isn’t responding or responsive.  In today’s mobile-heavy environment, your website needs to be fast, responsive – and mobile!  According to Business Week, 21 percent of all web traffic comes from mobile devices. Every aspect of your business has to fire on all cylinders, even all the third part applications you nay have. If there is any doubt any of your website isn’t responding in the way it should, get it redesigned.

4)      Your competitors have done it. You don’t want to redesign the site every time a competitor changes theirs, but you do want to be aware of what your competitors are doing. With this being said, if they are making changes and adjustments to their site that are improving their website rankings and pushing yours down, then it’s a problem.  Even the slightest adjustment will help combat that. A website redesign also provides the search engine bots with a fresher site design to crawl, which help your overall SERP in the long run.

Your web design should bring business to your company.  If it’s not doing that, you need to ensure you’re analyzing your website.  If a redesign is in order, then you’ll be  in great shape to tackle the competition.
